Im Oberlichtsaal der Kunsthalle Basel wird die Berliner Künstlergruppe Honey Honey-Suckle Company ihre neuste Rauminstallation "non est hic" zeigen. Honey-Suckle ist eine der 38 Blütenessenzen, die in der Bachblüten-Therapie eingesetzt werden. Sie hilft aus der Vergangenheit zu lernen und sich selbst in der Gegenwart durchzusetzen, indem man in die Zukunft blickt. Die Mitglieder der Honey Honey-Suckle Company haben sich 1995 in Berlin getroffen, wo sie heute immer noch leben und arbeiten. Aus dem Bedürfnis heraus, neue Wege im Berlin der 1990er-Jahre zu gehen, haben sie gemeinsame Aktionen, Projekte, Konzerte und selbst verwaltete Ausstellungsräume organisiert (Neue Dokumente, Allergie Raum, Galerie berlintokio u. a.). Im Geiste eines Avantgarde-Produktionsteams und gleichzeitig die Wege von vielen künstlerischen oder spirituellen Gemeinschaften aus den letzen zwei Jahrhunderten adaptierend, haben HSC ihren eigenen Stil, Kleider und Musik entwickelt. Gleichzeitig ist es ihnen gelungen, die Kontrolle über die Vermittlung und den Vertrieb ihrer eigenen Arbeiten zu behalten, während sie heimlich an den Rändern der Kunstwelt agierten, oder sich ausserhalb dieser bewegten. Die Projekte der Honey Honey-Suckle Company sind immer zwischen Installationen, Anti-Mode-Haltung, Neuer Musik, Fotografie, Video und Tanz-Performance angesiedelt. Jedes Mitglied ist in einem anderen Feld spezialisiert und die Summe der unterschiedlichen Fähigkeiten mündet in gemeinschaftliche Arbeiten ohne Autorenschaft des Einzelnen. Die HSC sampeln das Bauhaus und die Russische Avantgarde, bauen Instrumente von mittelalterlichen Wandermusikgruppen nach oder nehmen Referenzen zu der Lebensreform-Bewegung des 19. Jahrhunderts auf. Diese ästhetischen Elemente werden zu Bestandteilen von assoziativen Installationen, die dem Betrachter eine Erfahrung von Totalität ermöglichen. Die neue Installation "non est hic" der HSC setzt die Idee einer grenzenlosen, undefinierten Realität fort, mit Licht, Musik, installativen Objekten und Architekturen aus gebrauchten Materialien sowie aus gefärbter Seide. Überirdisch, übersinnlich und doch real, "es ist nicht da", ist es dennoch vollständig "hic et nunc", hier und jetzt. Die Mitglieder der Honey Honey-Suckle Company Company, die 2005 ihr 10-jähriges Jubiläum feierte, sind: N. Pleasure, Simone Gilges, Petr S. Kisur, Nico Ihlein, Zille Homma Hamid, Friedrich M. Lloch. Seit 1999 arbeitet die HSC mit dem Musiker Konrad Sprenger zusammen. Zur Ausstellung erscheint die Schallplatte "non est hit" mit einem begleitenden Heft, auf der erstmals Musikproduktionen früherer Projekte der HSC sowie auch der Soundtrack zur neuen Ausstellung veröffentlicht werden. Honey-Suckle is one of 38 flower remedies used in Bach Flower Therapy. It helps people to learn from the past in order to get a new perspective on the future. The members of the HSC met in 1995 in Berlin, where they live and work today. Based on their shared need to find new ways forward in the Berlin of the 1990s, they developed collective actions, projects, concerts and self-organised venues (Neue Dokumente, Allergie Raum, Galerie berlintokio, a. o.). Much in the spirit of an avant-garde production team, and adopting the path of many artistic or spiritual communities of the last two centuries, the HSC developed their own style, clothes and music. At the time, they have succeeded in keeping control of the distribution and mediation of their own work, while operating stealthily on the fringes of the art-world, or just outside it. The projects by the Honey Honey-Suckle Company hover between installation, anti-fashion, new music, photography, video and dance performance. Each of the members is specialised in a different domain, and the sum of the different abilities results in works based on refusal of individual authorship. The HSC samples Bauhaus and the Russian avant-garde, recreates the instruments of medieval wandering musicians, and plots references to the Lebensreform movement of the 19th century. These appropriated aesthetics are given parts in associative installations, which aim at producing a totality of experience for the viewer. The HSC HSC's new installation "non est hic" will pursue the idea of a borderless and indefinite reality, using light, sound, sculptural pieces and architecture made of second-hand material and dyed silk. Otherworldly, extra-sensual and yet real, "it is not here", and yet is fully "hic et nunc", here and now. The Honey Honey-Suckle Company Company, who celebrated their 10-year jubilee in 2005, are: N.
