Die Schweizer Stadt steht wie alljährlich im Mittelpunkt der kunstinteressierten Weltöffentlichkeit. Sie ist voll von Menschen, die die Kunst lieben und ihre Künstler verehren. Auch Adam Adach ist für einen Tag gekommen, um sich auf der Art Basel umzuschauen, das hektische und geschäftige Reigen um die zeitlose Kunst zu beobachten. Jedoch ist er gekommen ohne Vorbereitung. Der naive Glaube für eine Nacht schon ein Zimmer in irgendeinem Hotel der Stadt zu finden, wurde bestraft. Keiner der zahlreichen Gasthöfe kann dem Künstler wohlige Gastlichkeit bieten. Es scheint, als schliesse die Kunst liebende Welt den Kunst Schaffenden aus. Adam Adach verbringt diese Nacht auf einer Parkbank am Ufer des Rheins. Diese Nacht, dieses "Draussensein", obwohl man "drinnen ist" beschäftigen ihn seither. Was bedeutet Drinnen- und Draussensein? Wann ist man Teil von etwas, wann ist man ausgeschlossen? Wann ist man heimatlos? In der Ausstellung "Ivernia", Adachs erster Einzelausstellung bei Arndt & Partner in Zürich untersucht der in Paris und Warschau lebende Pole dieses Phänomen. In seine neuen Ölmalereien fliessen die Eindrücke aus dieser Nacht in Basel ein: die schlafenden Häuser auf der anderen Seite des ruhig fliessenden Flusses, die Brücken und die Denkmäler. Zwar bringt Adam Adach Orte und Begebenheiten in einem fiktiven Kontext neu zusammen, die "heimatlose" Nacht jedoch webt einen leisen Faden durch die Themen und Sujets. Adam Adach (geboren 1962 in Warschau) studierte Bildende Kunst in Lyon und Paris. Er lebt und arbeitet in Warschau und Paris und zeigte zuletzt eine umfangreiche Einzelausstellung im Musée nationale Message Biblique Marc Chagall in Nizza zu der ein ausführlicher Werkkatalog erschien (2005). Weitere Stationen seiner Ausstellungsgeschichte umfassen Galerien in Paris, Berlin und New York. 2005 zeigte das Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris seine Arbeiten im Rahmen der Ausstellungen "Nouvelles acquisitions". This year, as every year, the city in Switzerland is in the focus of attention of the entire arts world. The city is full of people who love the arts and admire their artists. Adam Adach is among the visitors. He came here for one day to take a look around the Art Basel and to observe the hectic hustle and bustle around the timeless realm of art. He came here unprepared, though. His naive confidence that finding a room for a night in some hotel in Basle would not be a problem is severely punished. None of the many boarding houses in the city lets the artist enjoy comfortable hospitality. The art-loving world seems to lock out the art maker. Adam Adach spends the night on a park bench near the Rhine river. This night, this sort of being outside in spite of being inside, is what he has been preoccupied with ever since. What do the terms being inside and being outside actually mean? In which case are you part of something, and in which case are you excluded? What is it that makes you homeless? This is the phenomenon that the Polish artist living in Paris and Warsaw examines in his first solo exhibition entitled "Ivernia" at Arndt & Partner Zurich. The impressions gathered during this very night in Basle found their way into his new oil paintings: the sleeping houses on the other side of the serenely flowing river, the bridges, and the monuments. While Adam Adach rearranges locations and events within a new fictitious context the "homeless" night, however, weaves an inconspicuous thread through the themes and subjects. Adam Adach (born 1962 in Warsaw) studied Fine Art in Lyon, France, and Paris. He lives and works in Warsaw and Paris. Adam Adach's most recent exhibition was a comprehensive solo show at the Musée Nationale Message Biblique Marc Chagall in Nice, France, that was accompanied by a catalogue raisonné (2005). His works were exhibited in galleries in Paris, Berlin, and New York. In 2005, the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris presented his works as part of the exhibition series "Nouvelles acquisitions".
