Ihr künstlerischer Ansatz hat sich in den letzten Jahren vertieft: Ihre Arbeiten haben den Raum erobert und überzeugen durch eine sowohl ästhetisch als auch räumliche Betonung einer Ausdrucksweise zwischen Malerei und Objekt. Dabei spielen landschaftliche wie auch urbane Referenzen eine zentrale Rolle. Ihre Arbeiten manifestieren sich zum einen in Frottagen, zum anderen entwickelt Anna Amadio seit mehreren Jahren grosse Rauminstallationen. Die aus Polyäthylen oder PVC gebildeten Luftobjekte - Gebilde aus inneren und äusseren Hüllen - wirken trotz ihrer Grösse leicht und beinahe schwerelos. Einzelne übereinander geschichtete und aufblasbare Segmente ergeben durch ihre Überlagerung komplexe Perspektiven und zeigen ihren Alltagsbezug wie in einer Art Verzögerung: Assoziationen entstehen und lösen sich gleichzeitig auch wieder auf. Eigens für den Kunstverein Freiburg konzipiert Anna Amadio eine raumspezifische Installation, eine Art Haus-im-Haus-Objekt, das zwischen Architektur und Installation anzusiedeln ist. Im Gegensatz zu ihren früheren Luftobjekten, in denen die Künstlerin transparente Folien verwendete, realisiert Amadio eine Arbeit im Kunstverein Freiburg, für die sie mit blickdichten und poppig-farbigen PVC-Folien operiert. Anstatt durch Aufblasen der Plastik - wie früher - wird Anna Amadio durch einen Vakuumisierungsprozess die Arbeit unter Spannung halten; Raum, Energie und Farbe werden in einem engen Verhältnis zu einander stehen. Konzeptioneller Ausgangspunkt dieser Arbeit waren Erfahrungen und Erlebnisse, die die Künstlerin im Rahmen ihres derzeitigen PS1-Stipendiums in New York sammelte. Angezogen von den wieder und wieder übermalten, übertünchten New Yorker Häuserfassaden, entwickelt Anna Amadio für den Kunstverein Freiburg ein Haus im Haus, ein Objekt, das sich mit der Räumhöhe in Freiburg (neun Meter) auseinander setzt. Die Verdrängung des Ausstellungsraumes durch die ausufernden Masse des Objektes - es ist sechs Meter hoch und lässt nur noch einen Umgang frei - und die farbige Geschlossenheit der Oberfläche spielen mit sowohl architektonischen Momenten wie auch Assoziationen im Zusammenhang mit Interieurs. Over the past few years she has honed her approach to art - her work has conquered space and her chosen medium, a hybrid of painting and objects, is very impressive, with its stylish emphasis on both the aesthetic and the spatial. For Amadio, references to both the landscape and the urban milieu play a central role. Amadio's work consists of both frottages and large-scale installations, a preoccupation of hers for several years now. Her air-filled objects made of polyethylene or PVC - structures consisting of inner and outer sheathing - have a light, almost weightless appearance, despite their size. Individual inflatable segments are layered together, producing complex perspectives and manifesting their link with everyday life with a kind of time-lapse. Associations come to mind, only to evaporate immediately. Anna Amadio has devised a site-specific installation specially for Kunstverein Freiburg, a kind of house-within-a-house object, a type of cross between a piece of architecture and an installation. In contrast to her earlier air-filled objects, for which the artist used transparent films, at Kunstverein Freiburg Amadio has produced a work using opaque PVC in loud colors. Instead of inflating the sculpture - as was earlier the case - here, Amadio will be using a vacuum process to maintain the tension on the work; space, energy and color will be in a close interrelationship. The conceptional starting point for this work was the artist's adventures and experiences over the course of a PSI scholarship in New York. Fascinated by the repeatedly repainted and whitewashed facades of the houses in New York, Anna Amadio is creating for Kunstverein Freiburg a house-within-a-house, an object that takes issue with the height of the ceilings in Freiburg (nine meters). The intimidating effect of the object's overwhelming dimensions on the exhibition room - it is six meters high and leave only one possible way around it - and the colorful uniformity of its surface will interact both with architectural elements and also with associations relating to interiors.
