Après moi, le Déluge

Scott Anderson
, Adam Cvijanovic, Angelina Gualdoni, Sven Kroner

f a projects is pleased to announce "Après moi, le Déluge", an exhibition of work by four painters united by their portrayal of post-apocalyptic landscapes.

In Angelina Gualdoni's work, urban symbols are subjected to decay and deterioration. Buildings collapse, weeds grow in between architectural structures and cities fall in on themselves. Scott Anderson fuses past, present and future in his paintings. Elements of ancient history stand beside science fiction imagery in a futuristic space. Adam Cvijanovic's murals, which are uniquely made using tyvek, the material used in FedEx envelopes, onto which he paints using acrylic and household paint, depict epic scenes of destruction. In "Neon Graveyard" (Sassy Sally), the ultimate signifiers of urban American landscapes, neon signs, stand desolate within a desert landscape.

While human inhabitation and presence is implied in all of the artists' works, Sven Kroner is the only artist to depict the human figure within his landscapes. This shift introduces an underlying tension in his paintings, with the figures' neo-Romantic implications suggesting the idyll of nature that stands at odds to the ravaged landscapes that they inhabit.

Each one of these artists presents a scene captured after the event, yet in each case the event is ambiguous, leaving the spectator to ponder cause and effect.

Sven Kroner lives and works in Düsseldorf. His recent solo exhibitions include Sies & Höke Galerie, Düsseldorf, Anne de Villepoix, Paris and Fons Welters, Amsterdam. His work has been included in group exhibitions internationally including "Wings of Art. Motiv Flugzeug" at the Ludwig Forum, Aachen, Germany, "How High Can You Fly" at the Kunsthaus Glarus, Switzerland and "Der Berg" at the Heidelberger Kunstverein, Germany.

Angelina Gualdoni, based in Chicago and New York, will have a solo exhibition at the St Louis Art Museum in 2007. Other upcoming exhibitions include "Triumph of Painting Part 6" at the Saatchi Gallery, London and "Poets on Painters" at the Ulrich Museum of Art, Wichita. She has recently exhibited at the Museum de Pavilijoens, Almere, The Netherlands and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago.

Scott Anderson is also based in Chicago. Recent solo exhibitions include the Kavi Gupta Gallery, Chicago, Mark Moore Gallery, Santa Monica and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago.
