Brock) zieht anlässlich seines 70. Geburtstags Bilanz und skizziert in seinem elf Stationen durchlaufenden "Lustmarsch durchs Theoriegelände" elf Topologien, mit denen er sich 50 Jahre lang in Literatur, Theater, Ästhetik, Film, Fernsehen, Hörfunk, Action Teaching und Ausstellungen beschäftigt hat. Den einzelnen Präsentationsorten sind Themen wie "Fininvest | Gott und Müll" in der Schirn, "Kontrafakte | Karfreitagsphilosophie - Der Faschist als Demokrat" im ZKM - Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie in Karlsruhe oder "Leben als Baustelle | Scheitern als Vollendung" im Von-der-Heydt-Museum in Wuppertal als Schwerpunkte zugeordnet, die sich u. a. an Brocks Wirken in den einzelnen Städten orientieren. Eine Kunstausstellung unterscheidet sich von einem Theoriegelände der Ästhetik wie ein Chemielabor von einem Messestand für Kunststoffhausrat. Brock arbeitet mit den Künsten, anstatt sie bloss an die Wand zu nageln. Das Brock'sche Kunstdenken eröffnet grosse Perspektiven. Theoreme wie "Der verbotene Ernstfall" oder "Gott und Müll" demonstrieren, wodurch man aus Beliebigkeit Verbindlichkeit schafft und aus Glaubenszweifel eine Ewigkeit baut. Die Kunst lehrt zu verehren, wovor wir uns fürchten; die Museen sind Tempel für kunstbekennende Atheisten. Brock gibt Anleitungen für Fininvests, also Investitionen ins Ende; er baut Rettungskomplets und widerruft das 20. Jahrhundert. Das sind Action Teachings der besonderen Art, deren Ziel es ist, eine bleibende Sammlung von Grabbeigaben für die 68er-Generation mit Wiederauferstehungsanlage zu schaffen. Die Ausstellung mit elf Themeninseln ist jeweils zur Führung mit Bazon Brock geöffnet. Der "Gewaltmarsch" findet nachmittags von 16 bis 17 Uhr, der "Lustmarsch" in den Abendstunden von 18 bis 22 Uhr statt. An jedem Ort wird hoffentlich je ein Freund und ein Feind der Brock'schen Arbeit mit ihm einen Diskurs führen. Veranstalter der Diskurse ist der seit 1988 eingetragene Bonner Verein "Helfen Sie mit, Bazon Brock zu lieben". In der Schirn Kunsthalle nimmt Bazon Brock unter dem Titel "Fininvest | Gott und Müll" Bezug auf seine Frankfurter Aktivitäten zur Experimenta 1, 2 und 3, Performances in den Galerien dato Loehr und Sydow, 10 Jahre Kunstmarkt Besucherschulen, Donnerstagsmanifeste und Bloomsdayfeiern. Bazon Brock zu seiner Frankfurter Theorieinsel "Fininvest | Gott und Müll": "Der Atompilz, das Gehirn am Stängel, garantiert Ewigkeit; Gott ist nicht mehr eine Frage des Glaubens, sondern der Endlagerungssicherheit. 15'000 Jahre Kulturdauer (kleinste Halbwertzeit) hat bisher keine Macht garantiert, aber wir. Wir bauen Kathedralen für den strahlenden Müll mitten in unseren Städten. Das Containment erproben die Museen, die Rituale entwickeln Performance-Künstler, die Liturgien entnehmen wir der Beteiligung an der universitären Selbstverwaltung. Neue Modelle für die Kathedralen Breitscheider Kreuz, Weinbrenner Platz (Karlsruhe), Düsseldorfer Kö-Teich etc. sind von Winfried Baumann fertig gestellt worden; item Tempelverkleidung für Müllwagen und Ritualgewandung für Müllmänner. Berlusconi macht klar: Kapitalismus ist Fininvest - so nannte er die Dachfirma seiner Unternehmungen. Die Auferstehung durch Untergang war und ist die probate Ideologie der Apokalyptiker; gnostisches Denken beherrscht die moderne Kunst. Also: Investieren wir freudig in unseren Untergang!" Einmaliger Demonstrationszug: Im Rahmen der Ausstellung veranstaltet der Kunsttheoretiker und Performer Bazon Brock einen Demonstrationszug mit anschliessender Kundgebung zum Thema "Gott und Müll". Am Montag, dem 3. April 2006, um 14.30 Uhr sammelt sich der Demonstrationszug im Aussenraum der Schirn-Rotunde. Der Marsch in der Frankfurter Innenstadt mit anschliessender Kundgebung dauert 2 Stunden. Publikation: Das Gesamtprojekt wird von Peter Weibel 2007 bei MIT Press in englischer und beim Fink-Verlag in deutscher Sprache veröffentlicht. Biografie: Bazon Brock, geboren 1936, studierte in Hamburg, Frankfurt und Zürich Germanistik, Philosophie, Kunstgeschichte und Politikwissenschaften. Während seines Studiums absolvierte er am Landestheater Darmstadt eine Dramaturgie-Ausbildung. Ab 1959 initiierte er gemeinsam mit Joseph Beuys, Nam June Paik, Hundertwasser und Alan Kaprow erste Happenings. Von 1965 bis 1978 hatte er eine Professur für nicht-normative Ästhetik an der Hochschule für bildende Künste in Hamburg inne. An der Hochschule für angewandte Kunst in Wien war Brock von 1978 bis 1981 Professor für Gestaltungslehre, von 1981 bis 2001 war er Professor für Ästhetik und Gestaltungstheorie an der Universität Wuppertal. Für die "documenta" in Kassel richtet er seit 1968 Besucherschulen ein. Bazon Brock versteht sich als "hauptamtlicher Beweger", der in ungewöhnlicher Praxis und Theorie seine Rezeptionsästhetik propagiert und in radikaler Veränderung die Kultur "in den materiellen Lebensprozess zurücknehmen" will. Als multimedial arbeitender "Generalist" veröffentlichte er zahlreiche Bücher, Schriften, Manifeste, Projekte für Funk und Film und präsentierte sich bisher mit circa 1800 Action Teachings, audiovisuellen Performances und Happenings in den USA, Japan und Europa. Als seine Hauptwerke gelten "Ästhetik als Vermittlung. Arbeitsbiographie eines Generalisten" (1977) und "Der Barbar als Kulturheld. Ästhetik des Unterlassens - Kritik der Wahrheit" (2002). Sein heutiger Arbeitschwerpunkt liegt auf der neuronalen Ästhetik und Imaging Sciences. Brock ist Mitglied der "Forscher-Familie bildende Wissenschaften", die sich vorrangig mit der Kulturgenetik beschäftigt, um Konzepte zur Zivilisierung von Kulturen auszuarbeiten. Brock), is taking stock on the occasion of his 70th birthday, outlining eleven topologies during his 11-station "Pleasure March through Theoretical Territory" - topologies he has explored in literature, theater, aesthetics, film, television, radio, action teaching, and exhibitions in the course of fifty years. Following, among other things, Brock's activities in the different cities and towns, the program will focus on a different issue at each venue: while the subject centered on will be "Fininvest | God and Trash" at the Schirn, for example, "Counter Facts | Good Friday Philosophy - The Fascist as Democrat" and "Life as a Construction Site | Failure as Achievement" are the subjects chosen for the ZKM - Center for Art and Media in Karlsruhe and the Von-der-Heydt-Museum in Wuppertal. An art exhibition differs from a theoretical territory of aesthetics like a chemistry laboratory from a stand at a trade fair for household plastics. Brock works with the arts rather than just nailing them on the wall. His way of thinking about art opens up vast perspectives. Theorems like "God and Trash" or "The Prohibited Worst Case" demonstrate how arbitrariness can create connections and how eternity can be derived from a crisis of faith. Art teaches us to venerate what we fear; museums are temples for atheists who have declared their faith in art. Brock gives instructions for Fininvests - that is, for investments in the end; he builds surviving units and recants the 20th century. These are action teachings of a special kind aimed at creating a permanent collection of burial objects for the sixty-eighters including a resurrection facility. The exhibition with eleven thematic islands will be open at the times scheduled for the guided tours with Bazon Brock. The Forced March will take place in the afternoon from 4 to 5 p.m., the Pleasure March in the evening, from 6 to 10 p.m. Hopefully, both a friend and an enemy of Brock's work will enter into a discourse with the author in each place. The discourses have been organized by the Bonn society "Join the Bazon Brock Loving Congregation" registered since 1988. "Finivest | God and Trash," the program at the Schirn Kunsthalle, will see Bazon Brock expounding on his Frankfurt activities concerning Experimenta 1, 2, and 3, performances in today's galleries Loehr and Sydow, 10 years of Art Market Visitor Schools, Thursday manifestoes, and Bloomsday celebrations. Brock's comment on his Frankfurt theory island "Finivest | God and Trash" runs as follows: "The atomic cloud, a brain on a stem, guarantees eternity; God is no matter of faith any longer, but rather one of the security of final disposal. So far, a period of 15,000 years of culture (minimum half-life) has not granted power, but we have. We have built cathedrals for the radiating garbage in the very middle of our urban centers. Museums test the containment, performance artists develop the rituals, and we derive the liturgies from participation in the universities' self-government. New models for the cathedrals Breitscheider Kreuz, Weinbrenner Platz (Karlsruhe), Düsseldorfer Kö-Teich, etc. have been completed by Winfried Baumann, and so have the temple coverings for trash trucks and the ritual garments for garbage collectors. Berlusconi has spelled it out: capitalism is Fininvest - thus the name he chose for the holding company of his enterprises. Resurrection by way of ruin was and still is the apocalyptics' proven ideology; modern art is dominated by Gnostic thinking. Well, let's joyfully invest in our downfall!" One-time demonstration march: In the context of the exhibition, the art theorist and performer Bazon Brock will organize a demonstration march plus manifestation on the subject "God and Trash." The march will move off from the outdoor space of the Schirn Rotunda at 2.30 p.m. on Monday, 3 April 2006. The march and the subsequent manifestation will last two hours. Publication: The entire project will be published by Peter Weibel in 2007; MIT Press will issue the English edition, Fink Verlag the German edition. Biography: Bazon Brock, born in 1936, studied German philology, philosophy, art history, and political sciences in Hamburg, Frankfurt, and Zurich. During his university years, he also studied to become a dramaturge at the Landestheater Darmstadt. From 1969 on, he initiated first happenings together with Joseph Beuys, Nam June Paik, Hundertwasser, and Alan Kaprow. He held a professorship for non-normative aesthetics at the College of Fine Arts in Hamburg from 1965 to 1978. In 1978, Brock was appointed professor for the theory of design at the College of Applied Arts in Vienna where he taught until 1981. From 1981 to 2000, he held a professorship for aesthetics and for the theory of design at Wuppertal University. He has organized visitor schools for the "documenta" in Kassel since 1968. Bazon Brock regards himself as an "executive engine" propagating his aesthetics of reception in the context of an unusual practice and theory and strives to reintegrate culture into "the material process of life" in a radical change. A "generalist" operating in many different media, Bazon Brock has published numerous books, papers, manifestoes, projects for radio and film and presented himself in the USA, Japan, and Europe with about 1800 action teachings, audio-visual performances, and happenings. Ästhetik des Unterlassens - Kritik der Wahrheit (The Philistine as Cultural Hero. Aesthetics of Neglect - Critique of Truth)" (2002) are regarded as his main works. The focus of his present work is on neuronic aesthetics and imaging sciences. Brock is a member of "Forscher-Familie bildende Wissenschaften," an association primarily concerned with cultural genetics and the development of concepts for the civilization of cultures.
