Die beiden Künstler haben den Film in Sao Paulo mit einer brasilianischen Crew gedreht, unter ihnen die bekannte Paula Zwicker als Schülerin Luzia und die brasilianische Horrorfilmlegende Zé do Caixao ("Coffin Joe") als Landstreicher. Der 30-minütige Horrorthriller "Constructio Infernalis" erinnert an "Shining" oder auch den französischen Horrorfilm "Irreversible". Modernistische Architektur wird eindrucksvoll zum Werkzeug, um mentalem Terror und Wahnsinn ein Bild zu geben. Seit 10 Jahren beschäftigt sich Christoph Draeger in seiner Arbeit mit Katastrophen, Gewalt und Zerstörung. Auch sein jüngstes Projekt analysiert ein Genre der Massenkultur (Horrorthriller) mit Referenzen zu zeitgenössischer Kunst und Subkultur und Klischéevorstellungen von der brasilianischen Gesellschaft. Die analytische Methode ist die Simulation: er stellt ein Modell eines möglichen Horrorfilms her, indem er ihn mit einer Filmcrew dreht und sich dabei an Hollywoodästhetik bedient. In Zusammenspiel von Installation und Projektion entwickeln seine Inszenierungen eine starke Suggestionskraft. The two shot the film in six days on location in Sao Paulo, with an all Brazilian cast and crew. Along with rising star Paula Zwicker as the school girl Lucia, it features Brazilian horror film legend Zé do Caixao (Coffin Joe) as the vagrant. A psychological horror thriller reminiscent of "The Shining". "Constructio Infernalis" is a short film (30 minutes) that uses modernist architecture as a tool for exploring mental terror and insanity. The slowly increasing horror of "Constructio Infernalis" is employed as a metaphor for failed architectural utopias of Modernity. Synopsis: One early evening, a curious teenage couple in search of adventure enters a decades old, abandoned, and incomplete building. They quickly become lost in its strange architecture, and a spiral of horror begins. The nightmare intensifies, culminating in a brutal murder. Finally, the difference between reality, and the phantasms of a girl's troubled mind are called into question. Construction of Destruction: Christoph Draeger is working for 10 years on issues of catastrophe, destruction and violence. His latest project analyses again a genre of mass culture (horror film), with references to Brazilian contemporary culture and subculture and clichés often associated with Brazilian society. The analysing method is the simulation: he is creating a model of a possible horror film by filming with a professional crew and playing with Hollywood aesthetics. By combining the projection of the film with an installation that recreates parts of the film's set, the exhibition develops a strong power of suggestion.
