Door Cycle

Friedrich Petzel Gallery, in collaboration with Edition Schellmann Contemporary Art Production, is pleased to present the "Door Cycle". The exhibition will include works by Daniel Buren, Olafur Eliasson, Elmgreen & Dragset, Katharina Fritsch, Liam Gillick, Katharina Grosse, Anish Kapoor, Sarah Morris, Paul Morrison, Tony Oursler, Jorge Pardo, Wilhelm Sasnal, Thomas Schütte, Santiago Sierra, Luc Tuymans, and Christopher Wool.

Between 1964 and 1966 Willem de Kooning painted a series of female figures on hollow-core wood doors, which were later exhibited as the "Door Cycle" at the Whitney Museum of American Art in 1996. Inspired by Willem de Kooning's "Door Cycle" paintings, Edition Schellmann invited a group of artists to create works of art on prefabricated hollow-core doors. The resulting works are painting, object, silk-screen, sculpture, relief and other techniques, on wood, glass, steel, and even paper.

Exhibition: June 29 - August 11, 2007
Gallery hours: Tues-Sat 10am - 6pm and by appointment.
