Drawing, Thinking

Eve Aschheim
, Shoshana Dentz, Christine Hiebert, Bruno Jakob, Nick Lamia, Suzanne McClelland, Oona Stern, Allyson Strafella

Von Lintel Gallery is pleased to announce an exhibition of contemporary drawings by Eve Aschheim, Shoshana Dentz, Christine Hiebert, Bruno Jakob, Nick Lamia, Suzanne McClelland, Oona Stern and Allyson Strafella.

The artists in this exhibition engage in drawing as an independent means of investigation: drawing not as illustration of pre-conceived notions, but rather drawing as a mode of thinking. While they represent distinct individual positions, the artists in this show are unified by a sense of discovery that permeates their work. Their deep engagement with the process of drawing itself and the often unconventional use of both tools and materials give these works their emotional weight and visual intelligence.

This exhibition includes works on paper, intimate to large-scale, employing graphite, watercolor, transfer carbon, charcoal, and drawing mediums invisible to the eye, alongside wall, floor, and ceiling drawings which address the spatial and architectural considerations of the gallery.
