"Echo/Anti-Echo" ist Teil des Titels des von Sam Durant ausgestellten Werkes. Er bezieht sich darin auf eine Performance von Beuys, die zeitgleich von Robert Morris in Amerika stattfinden sollte. Dieses Projekt wurde damals zwar leider nicht realisiert, aber nunmehr von Durant in einem neuen Dialog wieder aufgenommen. Die ausgewählte Gruppierung von Video und Skulptur zeigt, wie zeitgenössische konzeptionelle Arbeiten aus LA in einer vielfältigen kritischen Reflektion zu europäischen Kunstproduktion stehen. The title is part of the title of a piece by Sam Durant. His work refers to a performance by Beuys which was supposed to be mirrored by Robert Morris. This dialogue never happened. In many ways though within the contemporary conceptual works by LA based artists there is a strong threat of crititcal artistic production which refers to European practise and definitions of art production.
