Edwin Schlossberg
Reflecting on Culture

The Feldman Gallery will exhibit artworks by Edwin Schlossberg that relate to concepts of culture. Featured in the exhibition are fifty new drawings, which are on highly polished aluminum and which use various media and methods to write and draw on the surface. Earlier works on aluminum will be exhibited as well.

Each of us and every institution uses the word culture differently. The difference in definitions and the opportunity to define culture is the focus of this new exhibition.

Edwin Schlossberg has exhibited at the Feldman Gallery since 1978, including eight one-person shows and inclusion in "Ameri©an Dre@m", a group exhibition in 2003. A survey of his work was mounted by the National Arts Club in New York City in 2001. Recent group exhibitions include "The Voting Booth Project", Parsons School of Design, New York and "Splendid Pages", the Toledo Museum of Art, Ohio.

In addition to his accomplishments as a poet and visual artist, Mr. Schlossberg is also founder of and principal designer for ESI Design, a leading exhibit and brand experience design firm. Recent projects include the database and development of the American Family Immigration History Center at Ellis Island as well as exhibitions, based on interactive display stations, at St. Paul's Chapel near ground zero and the Pope John Paul II Cultural Center in Washington, D.C.
