Ernesto Neto a spécialement conçu et imaginé de nouvelles installations à l'occasion de cette grande exposition. Il explore à nouveau les opportunités sculpturales d'un lieu: celui de la galerie entièrement consacré à cet événement. Présentes depuis plusieurs années dans les plus grandes expositions internationales, les sculptures d'Ernesto Neto, fragiles et imposantes, semblant se maintenir dans un équilibre précaire, convient le spectateur à un voyage intérieur. Leurs formes étranges s'apparentent à des corps à l'enveloppe délicate, parfois remplis d'épices, de sable ou de riz. Défiant la loi de la gravité par une construction complexe, une sculpture monumentale prendra corps dans la plus grande salle de la galerie. Autour d'une ossature verticale en piliers métalliques, un grand tissu léger prendra forme autour de la structure, telle une peau. La sculpture, simple en elle-même, est basée sur l'intersection de quatre cercles. Deux ensembles se distinguent: le sol et le corps architectural. La relation qui naît entre ces deux pôles est une caractéristique symbolique que l'on retrouve dans la majorité des oeuvres d'Ernesto Neto, où tous les éléments s'entrechoquent dans une dualité conflictuelle. Ernesto Neto propose dans la seconde partie de l'exposition une installation plus intime. Créant davantage une ambiance, un salon haut en couleur, où il n'y aura presque rien à voir. Ernesto Neto invite le spectateur à venir se détendre: il pourra s'asseoir, s'allonger dans un environnement sans tension ni contrainte. L'artiste nous offre, l'espace d'un instant, à vivre pleinement le temps qui passe, d'être là de tout son corps. The exhibition is divided into two parts, both with similar intentions: the creation of an utopian space where the viewer's encounter is experienced not just with the mind and the eyes, but with the whole body. It is a place to undress our culture and let us breathe. Neto has created this installation with the architecture of the gallery in mind - this work is site-specific. In the largest space of the gallery a sophisticated installation is constructed with long metal poles relying on gravity as the means to stretch the skin-body of the piece - an expansive light cloth. The sculpture in itself is based upon multiple intersections of four central circles. A dynamic is generated between two elements - the ground surface and the architectural body of the work. The relationship between these two parts is a very symbolic characteristic of most of Ernesto Neto's work, where all the elements interact in a dual conflict. Two polarities emerge - natural, organic bounderies and our desire of infinity. In the second part of the exhibition Neto is presenting one piece divided into two smaller rooms. The viewer, immediately upon entering, becomes absorbed by the placidity of the space through the somber colours and thick foam floor. The atmosphere is light and the space seems to breathe like it is living, as a garden. The viewer is invited to lie down, it is a place for contemplation. Ernesto Neto's body of art always involves a great deal of sensuality relayed through the works' surfaces or skins. This creates a symbolic connection between the viewer's senses and the art itself.
