K3 Project Space Zurich presents in collaboration with Cafe Gallery Projects London:

Handluggage

Handluggage is an annual show curated by Clare Goodwin, Sandi Paucic and Oliver Kielmayer of K3 Project Space, Zurich.

This year the curators have invited a number of Swiss artists to travel to London with their works in their handluggage. As in previous "Handluggage" shows, a further 6 artists will be selected to show work in opposition to that brought over as handluggage.

For the past two "Handluggage" events in 2003 and 2004, the shows were made in collaboration with Swiss based bag companies, "Freitag" and "nds". Handluggage 2005 has been kindly sponsored by NAVYBOOT.

Artists and curators have been given a sponsored bag which they can keep.

For both previous "Handluggage" shows, a number of diverse UK based artists were invited to bring, install/construct their handluggage restricted works just a few days prior to the opening at K3 Project Space in Zurich. While in transit, their work was not allowed to exceed the confines of the sponsored bag and normal handluggage weight of 5 kg, but could exceed these dimensions once constructed within the gallery space.

Similar to the previous shows, but in reverse; this years artists, in committing themselves to bringing their work to London; are also responsible for taking their work back to Zurich in their handluggage once the event is over.

K3 Project Space is supported by Foundation Nestlé pour l'art, with individual shows supported by the City of Zurich and the British Council.
