Bart Exposito: "BME 29 - 41"
"BME 29 - 41"

Bart Exposito

Bart Exposito (1970) lives and works in Los Angeles. He received his MFA from the California Institute of the Arts in 2000. At the Hot Coco Lab Bart Exposito shows recent drawings. Either enclosed in transparent plastic folders or displayed on a card board shelf the geometric abstractions suggest cartoony versions of colourful record covers. The "superflat" aesthetic thereby seek a contrast to the quasi three dimensional objecthood of the jackets.

Lutz/Guggisberg

Lutz/Guggisberg stands for the collaboration of Andres Lutz (1968) and Anders Guggisberg (1966) that started in 1996. They both live and work in Zurich. At the Hot Coco Lab Lutz/Guggisberg will present "The Good Spawn" and the "Evil Spawn" - a room filling installation of white balloons. Furthermore they will present single pieces from Library and Cups, Awards and Trophies, two works in progress.

Whereas Library is a collection of approx. 250 book models made of plywood featuring fictional authors, titles, blurbs and publication houses though bearing reference to existent books, Cups, Awards and Trophies is composed of approx. 50 such objects found in second hand shops. What the cups originally were given for and to whom, who knows, but Lutz/Guggisberg keep explanations ready. Blending reality and fiction, past and present, humour and seriousness Lutz/Guggisberg create a parallel world to the one that exists out there.
