Connect

Schroeder Romero is pleased to announce a solo exhibition of new work by Lindsey Nobel. This is her second solo show with Schroeder Romero.

Continuing her exploration of organic versus man-made forms, Nobel creates ecosystems in her own language layering patterns and forming systems which represent events, memories, places and people. These ecosystems are presented in photographs, paintings and drawings.

Nobel submerges white plastic sculptures into acrylic tanks of dyed water and then photographs them producing a temporary existence for each piece. She mounts the photograph onto a wood panel isolating the image and then through an intricate system of patterns and forms using ink and paint, reconnects this image with its own intensely personal meaning. Floating microcosms suspended in several layers of resin create a three-dimensional effect on a two-dimensional surface. As a result, the artist is colonizing her own thoughts and experiences to form a new system which grows and feeds off the different materials used in each piece.

Exhibition: February 13 - March 22, 2004
