Es sind vielschichtige Fragen der Repräsentation und Projektion, sei es in privaten, medialen oder politischen Zusammenhängen, mit denen das Schweizer Künstlerduo Frédéric Moser & Philippe Schwinger uns konfrontieren. Ihre Arbeit bringt die Dynamik divergierender Wahrheitsansprüche und semantischer Verschiebungen in einer unverwechselbaren Konvergenz aus Theater, Film und Installation zum Leben. Im Zentrum ihrer Ausstellung "Amanda" bei Arndt & Partner steht eine Puppentheater-Version der Film-Installation "Unexpected Rules" (dem offiziellen Schweizer Beitrag auf der 26. Internationalen Biennale von São Paulo). Das Script basiert auf der Clinton-Lewinsky Affäre, deren Mischung aus Macht, Sex und globalisierten Medien ihnen als Exempel dient, die widerstreitenden Interessen von persönlichen und öffentlichen Positionen ad absurdum zu führen und die Möglichkeit einer Wahrheitsfindung als unmöglich zu entlarven. Amanda, diesen Namen gab das Künstlerduo Monica Lewinsky in ihrer fiktionalisierten Filmversion. Mit ihren Strategien der Täuschung ist Amanda die treibende Kraft des Spiels. Dieselbe Schauspielerin finden wir in weiteren Filmen der Ausstellung. So wird Amanda zur Projektionsfläche in unterschiedlichen Bezugszusammenhängen: der Politik, der Intimität, sowie der Medien- und Unterhaltungswelt. Frédéric Moser & Philippe Schwinger wurden 1966/61 in Saint-Imier (Schweiz) geboren. Seit 1988 arbeiten sie zusammen, zunächst als Co- Direktoren einer unabhängigen Theaterkompanie in Lausanne. Seit 4 Jahren leben und arbeiten sie in Berlin. Sie wurden dreimal mit dem Swiss Art Award ausgezeichnet (1998, 1999 und 2000) und in Ausstellungen etwa im Kunstmuseum PasquArt, Biel, im Cornerhouse, Manchester (beide 2004), im Chiba City Museum of Art in Japan (2005), sowie auf den internationalen Filmfestivals von Locarno, London (beide 2005), Triest und Rotterdam (jeweils 2006) präsentiert. Zuletzt zeigten Moser & Schwinger ihre Einzelausstellung "Farewell Letter to the Swiss Workers" im Kunsthaus Zürich (2006). Im September 2006 nehmen sie an der Ausstellung "Protections" im Kunsthaus Graz teil. Their work brings to life the divergent versions of reality and semantic shifts in a distinctive convergence of theatre, film and installation. At the centre of their exhibition "Amanda" at Arndt & Partner stands a puppet version of the film installation "Unexpected Rules" (the official Swiss entry for the 26th São Paulo International Biennial). The script is based on the Clinton-Lewinsky affair. Its mixture of power, sex and media on a global scale serves as an example of how conflicting interests of personal and public positions are taken to an absurd level and the possibility of any establishment of the truth is exposed as impossible. Amanda, is the name which the artistic duo gave to Monica Lewinsky in their fictionalised film version. With her strategies of deception, Amanda is the driving force of the game. The same performer is acting in further films in the exhibition. So Amanda becomes the surface onto which different matrices of relations are projected: of politics, of private life, as well as the media and the world of entertainment. Frédéric Moser & Philippe Schwinger were born in 1966/61 in Saint-Imier (Switzerland). They have worked together since 1988, initially as codirectors of an independent theatre company in Lausanne, Switzerland. They have been living and working in Berlin for 4 years. Their work has been recognised on three occasions with the Swiss Art Award (1998, 1999 and 2000) and exhibited in venues such as Kunstmuseum PasquArt, Biel, Switzerland; Cornerhouse, Manchester (both in 2004), Chiba City Museum of Art in Japan (2005), as well as at international film festivals of Locarno, Switzerland; London (both in 2005); Trieste, Italy; and Rotterdam (each in 2006). Recently in 2006 Moser & Schwinger presented a solo show "Farewell Letter to the Swiss Workers" at the Kunsthaus Zurich, Switzerland. In September 2006 they will take part in the group show "Protections" at the Kunsthaus in Graz, Austria.
