Italian photographer Ken Damy has been collecting photographs with a passion since the 1970s, opening his first gallery in 1974. Located in Brescia, northern Italy, the Museo Ken Damy houses his private collection which includes works by many of the world's most famous and collectable photographers.

This special exhibition is an opportunity to view works by such luminaries as diverse as Ralph Gibson, Dorothea Lange, Joel Peter Witkin, Cindy Sherman and Flor Garduno and also includes the rarely shown full frame image of Che Guevara by Alberto Korda.

The market for collecting photography has grown extensively over the past decade or so, reflected in the number of photography specific fairs, galleries, dealers and magazines offering a plethora of opportunities to extend our knowledge and collecting aspirations. On Tuesday 23 January at 7.00pm, curator and critic Gerry Badger, who published the comprehensive Collecting Photography, will be giving a talk about collecting photography and for people interested in purchasing prints by renowned photographers, all of the original works in Collector's Choice will be for sale for the duration of the exhibition.

Photofusion's previous collaboration with the Museum was in 2002 when we presented a retrospective exhibition by Mario Giacomelli which became one of the gallery's most popular shows. We are delighted to have the opportunity of working with Ken Damy again, this time in relation to his personal collection. Dedicated to the photographic arts, Museo Ken Damy also runs a programme of temporary exhibitions, many of which tour internationally, and includes a space devoted to showing work by emerging photographers.
