Pali Kashi
In the Timbers of Fennario

Klaus von Nichtssagend Gallery is proud to announce the first New York solo exhibition for Brooklyn-based artist Pali Kashi. The exhibition will feature recent mixed media works and paintings on wood panel.

Kashi's art combines painting and drawing to create multi-tiered environments that are simultaneously inviting and mysterious. These pieces evoke expeditions through a mythological landscape of secret clearings and secluded villages. Images of forests and ponds are seen overlapping unpopulated dwellings in mountain villages, tents and interiors on vibrating color fields; line drawn logs float on a wood grain wash that mimics the wood panel on which it's painted. The resulting spaces of solitude seem to come from snapshots of seemingly familiar places mediated by Kashi's selective memory.

Pali Kashi was born in New Jersey and received a BFA in Painting from the Rhode Island School of Design. She has recently shown in New York, San Francisco and Providence, Rhode Island. She currently lives and works in Brooklyn.

Exhibition: April 2 - May 8, 2005
Opening hours: Sat/Sun 12 - 6 pm and by appointment
