 RELAX (chiarenza & hauser & co) Parking Avenir Click for English text "Parking Avenir" heisst die neuste Installation der Künstlergruppe RELAX (chiarenza & hauser & co), die sich auf die bewegte Geschichte des Künstlerhauses Bethanien und des davorliegenden Mariannenplatzes bezieht. Drei nahe zum Eingang in den Ausstellungsraum hineingebaute Räume erschweren zunächst den Zugang. In den separat betretbaren Einbauten hat RELAX - als Bild für das wechselhafte Beziehungsgefüge zwischen künstlerischer Entwicklung, Kuratieren und Ausstellen - ein Atelier, ein Büro und einen Ausstellungsraum eingerichtet. Ein in Gummi gegossener Lageplan des vor dem Künstlerhaus Bethanien gelegenen Mariannenplatzes bietet Sicht auf jene Parkanlage, welche seit Beginn der 70er Jahre für Kämpfe und wiederkehrende 1. Mai-Schlachten beliebtes Terrain ist. Ineinandergreifende Videoarbeiten, auf Monitoren und projiziert, zeigen diverse Bilder der Verlangsamung. Einige der Bilder sind Statements von Direktoren, KuratorInnen, Kulturverantwortlichen, Seniorinnen und einer Farbingenieurin der letzten 30 Jahre, die sich sprachlich und vom Auftreten her stark unterscheiden. Vor diesem Panorama, am Boden und zwischen Vitrinen im nur spärlich beleuchteten Raum sich verlierend, liegen lose Häufchen von weggeblasenem Archivmaterial. RELAX, besteht aus Marie-Antoinette Chiarenza und Daniel Hauser, Sitz in der Schweiz. Die Ausstellung wurde ermöglicht durch den projektbezogenen Meret-Oppenheim-Preis des Bundesamts für Kultur BAK sowie dank der Förderung durch die Fondation Nestlé pour l'Art, die Stanley Thomas Johnson Stiftung und die Kunstkommission des Kantons Bern. Three rooms built into the exhibition space near the entrance initially make access to parking avenir difficult. In the structures that can be entered separately RELAX has – as an image of the changing network of relationships between artistic development, curating and exhibiting – set up a studio, a curator's office and an exhibition space. A site plan cast in rubber of Mariannenplatz, the square situated in front of Künstlerhaus Bethanien, allows a view of the park that was and still is the popular location for the struggles for and against the Künstlerhaus Bethanien at the beginning of the 1970s as well as for the futile battles that are held annually on 1st May. Mutually interweaving videos, displayed partly on monitors in the three rooms and partly projected large on the walls of Studio 2 show various images of the process of slowing down. Several images contain statements from the last 30 years by directors, curators, those responsible for culture, pensioners and a colour engineer, that are clearly distinguishable both linguistically and in terms of the individuals' appearances. Fading from view in front of this panorama, on the floor and between vitrines in minimally lit rooms, lie loose piles and scraps of scattered archive material.
