The extended weekend was filled with a variety of group activities, lots of discussions and a whole lot crying as student after student exposed their demons, contemplated their existence and searched for answers. All was done under the auspices of a higher being, the presence of which many felt for the first, and probably only time… By the time the weekend was over, I, along with my classmates found ourselves hugging each other, and committing ourselves to life long relationships - even with the kids that you hated or those you never ever even acknowledged over the past 4 years as you made your way through the halls. Back in school after the retreat weekend, all bets were off and the promises and commitments of life long friendships, a life with out substances, and full of deep spiritual devotion were usually broken within 1 week, sometimes even 2 weeks.
