The gallery has brought together a broad range of artists to examine distinct concerns in contemporary art. The first exhibition, "Surface", examines concepts of flatness, two dimensionality, and veneer. It looks at what is happening on the face of things, sometimes questioning or challenging notions of depth. Much of the work here engages more painterly concerns and traces itself along Pop lines. In contrast, "Structure" investigates what happens below the surface and behind the façade. The artists represented here share a common interest in getting behind what appears at face value, and they often strive to create alternative paradigms. The affinities of these works lie more with sculpture and conceptual art.
