 Trenton Duerksen: Five Friends Stoking the Campfire, 2005 Ink on paper, 22.9 x 30.5 cm, 9 x 12 inches Summer Group Exhibition Damien Deroubaix, Trenton Duerksen, Piero Golia, Brian Love, Robert Melee, Lorenzo Scotto di Luzio Sutton Lane is pleased to announce a summer group exhibition Featuring for the first time works by Damien Deroubaix, Trenton Duerksen, Piero Golia, Brian Love, Robert Melee, Lorenzo Scotto di Luzio. Damien Deroubaix uses media such as drawings, collages and wall paintings to create a peculiar, sometimes fantastic iconography, which comprehends references to the mass media, as well as comic strips. The artist thereby reflects on the signs and images proper to consumer society. Damien Deroubaix was born in Lille in 1972. He lives and works in Paris. His most recent exhibitions include the Musée d'Art Moderne et Contemporain, Strasbourg and Konsortium, Düsseldorf. He will take part in Art Basel Statements 2005. Piero Golia works with a variety of media. Crucial to his practice are the relationship between art and life, the tension between possibility and unimaginable, trust and faith. Piero Golia was born in Naples in 1974. He lives and works between Naples and Los Angeles. He has participated in international solo and group exhibitions including the 2002 Prague Biennale, Tirana Biennale 2002, Villa Medici Academy in Rome, and Centre Rhenan d'art Contemporain in France, the Fondazione Trussardi in Milan. Glasgow based painter Brian Love pictures enigmatic subjects emanating from the world of circus and amusement creating an imaginary and poetic landscape. Brian Love was born in Bellshill Scotland in 1978. He recently graduated from the Royal Glasgow Institute. Robert Melee's work includes various media such as film, video, photography, painting and sculpture. In his elaborated mock suburban installations, Melee investigates the dynamics and aesthetics of the American working-class. Robert Melee lives and works in New York. His solo exhibitions include the Corcoran Museum in Washington D.C., the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art in Ridgefield CT, Basel Statements 2003. His most recent group exhibitions include: PS1 "Greater New York", New York and the New Museum, New York. Lorenzo Scotto di Luzio's work embraces diverse medias such as painting, drawing, video, sculpture and photography. His "Plastiline" are childlike sculptures reproducing realistically ordinary objects made out of rubber such as, kitchen gloves, sponges, rubber bands, flip flops, shoes. All is treated with both mocking irony and nostalgia and the artistic process is withheld in favour of the final results. Lorenzo Scotto di Luzio was born in Pozzuoli (Naples) in 1972. He lives and works in Berlin. His most recent solo exhibition was at the Galleria Fonti, Naples 2005. He participated in various group exhibitions such as the Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Torino, Fondazione A. Olivetti, Roma, Serpentine Gallery, London; Centro per l'Arte Contemporanea L. Pecci, Prato. Trenton Duerksen lives and works in New York City., he was born in 1980 in McPherson, Kansas. He graduated in 2002 from Cooper Union School of Art and Science, New York. His work is currently part of "Greater New York" at PS1 MOMA, New York.
