Frank Bernarducci and Louis K. Meisel are pleased to announce the opening of "Summer Suite", a group survey of contemporary paintings by Gallery artists, encapsulating the spirit of the summer season. While the works in the exhibition are connected by a common theme, each painting reflects a unique vision of the time of year that inspires them.

Together, their paintings comprise a welcoming overture to one of the most anticipated times of year. Hilo Chen's "Beach 153" immediately sets the tone as its vibrant hues present a sweltering female figure tanning on a crowded beach. Paul Caranicas confronts us with an explosive depiction of a futuristic red speed boat barreling through clear blue waters in "Perth Amboy, Future 2". Of a more subdued nature is David Dewey's watercolor "Sole Mooring", a serene seascape demonstrating the artist's exquisite treatment of tonality and color. Ken Danby, the Canadian born painter, well known for his timeless portrayals of celebrated hockey players, alludes to his love of sports and nature in his painting, "Shore Bound", an enchanting watercolor depicting a canoe docked on the shore of a peaceful lake. The work of Rey Milici exudes a similar ambiance through his New England harbor scenes. A luminescent light permeates a translucent yacht sail creating an atmosphere of composure and tranquility.

In contrast to these images of typical summer activities, other expressions of summertime are presented by artists such as Mark Workman, Matthew Pierog, Roberto Bernardi, and Don Jacot. In a brilliant landscape scene entitled "Greener Pastures", Workman captures a transfixed moment in time as twilight sets in over a lush, green field. Of a strikingly more minimalist interpretation of the exhibition's theme is Matthew Pierog's painting "Lemon", featuring a single life size fruit resting on a wood plank against a stark, black background. Exploring a similar subject, yet in a distinctly separate manner, is Roberto Bernardi with "Scala Complementare". Here, elaborately reflective surfaces and glossy textures enhance the painting&Mac182;s focal point, a radiant silver bowl. Painted in a Photorealist manner is Don Jacot's "Aloha", a collection of antique toy hula dolls. Resplendent in richly colored grass skirts and floral leis, they are gathered together to exemplify the essence of the season.

While each painting in the exhibition stands alone in its vision, all unite to create a welcoming arrival of summer and all it calls to mind.
