Tal R
Last Drawing Before Mars

LFL Gallery is pleased to announce "Last Drawing Before Mars," the first New York solo exhibition by Israeli/Danish artist Tal R.

Tal's work often includes a great deal of play. He works with varied materials and saturated colors to create a bright, textured physical world. His universe is filled with castles that feel like giant children's toys, with forests where trees grow color instead of leaves. His rooms and architecture function as stages filled with a wild party.

The exhibition will include 12 new pieces including collages, paintings and fabric works. Specific works in the exhibition include a painting of opaque "Tom of Finland" shadows merged with imagery from ancient Greek pottery, hippie ghosts in the woods, a non-representational white fabric wall hanging, and a castle on the other side of Mars.

Tal R was born in 1967 in Israel and studied at the Billedskolen and the Royal Danish Academy of Art in Copenhagen. He currently lives and works in Copenhagen. His work has been exhibited at Contemporary Fine Arts, Berlin; Victoria Miro, London; Horsens Kunstmusem, Horsens; Museum Abteiberg, Germany; Saatchi Gallery, London; Bawag Foundation, Vienna; Moderna Museet, Stockholm; Royal Academy of Arts, London.
