Richard Harper: Agnes, 2004 Oil on canvas, 35 x 26 in. (88.9 x 66 cm) TALENT 2005 An Emerging Artists Salon David Barnett, Eric Barth, Lucien Dulfan, Richard Harper, Brian Haverlock, Duane Keiser, Paul Lorenz, Gina Minichino, Madeline Silber, Brandon Soloff, Gary Spradling, and others TALENT 2005, a salon-style exhibition of new and emerging artists, will be on view at the Allan Stone Gallery. The exhibition will showcase realist and abstract paintings, as well as mixed-media works and sculpture. The representational school includes hyperrealist figurative paintings, Flemish-influenced still lifes, modern impressionist landscapes, and traditional portraiture. The abstraction ranges from linear drawings to geometric, biomorphic paintings to large-scale mixed-media collages. Among the featured artists are David Barnett, a master of intricate, mechanical and fantastical flying machines; Eric Barth, who paints modern impressionistic landscapes that are hauntingly atmospheric yet peaceful; Lucien Dulfan, who creates mixed-media collages juxtaposing soviet era sci-fi imagery with seventeenth century royal portraiture; Richard Harper, who paints hyperrealist nude studies; Brian Haverlock, whose works put a surrealist spin on religious iconography, while maintaining an "old master" technique; Duane Keiser, whose intimate portraits of everyday objects are reminiscent of eighteenth century still lifes; Paul Lorenz, who makes meticulous linear abstractions that are rooted in architectural schematics; Madeline Silber, whose minimal biomorphic compositions are vibrant and quirky; and Brandon Soloff, who is a modern traditionalist of Northern European-style portraiture.
