Tris Vonna-Michell
Seizure

Milliken is proud to present "Seizure" by Tris Vonna-Michell in the gallery for a performance at 7 pm within a constructed installation. Tris Vonna-Michell's artwork consists of nonlinear and convoluted stories. In this exhibition the artist presents a piece that began as a telephone monologue and a subsequent journey to Berlin in search of historical idiosyncrasies concerning three political characters. This is the second exhibition for Vonna-Michell at Milliken Gallery.

The first exhibition "Down the Rabbit-Hole" has traveled throughout Europe despite being vandalized and permanently altered at an unnamed institution. By returning to Stockholm, the artist will attempt to reconstitute "Down the Rabbit-Hole" with additional depositions and documentation, resulting from legal interaction behind closed doors.

During the last year the artist has had solo shows at the Witte de With, Rotterdam, Palais des Beaux-Arts, Brussels and Kunstverein in Braunschweig, Germany. He will show at Cubitt in London, October 2007 and was awarded a IASPIS studio grant for 2008. You may see his work in Performa, New York, in November this year. In 2008 he will participate in the 5th Berlin Biennale, the Glasgow Biennale, and the Yokohama Triennial.

Continuing the "Not Yet Titled" Essay series Milliken presents an essay by Adam Carr on the artwork of Tris Vonna-Michell in conjunction with the exhibition.
