 Matti Braun: Hocker I, Hocker II, Hocker III, 1998 Pouf, polyester (Polsterhocker), 51 x 52 cm, 51 x 52 cm, 46 x 75 cm Utopie réalisée Präsentation des Espace de l'Art Concret, Mouans-Sartoux/Côte d'Azur Click for English text Das Projekt "Utopie réalisée" basiert auf drei Ausstellungsteilen: - der Präsentation wichtiger Arbeiten aus der Donation Albers-Honegger im Espace de l'Art Concret (kuratiert von Sybil Albers) - einer Präsentation der Architekten Gigon/Guyer, die das neue Museum für die Donation entworfen haben - und einem temporären Malatelier für Kinder Diese drei Bereiche spiegeln ein Projekt mit einem besonderen Anliegen wider: Der Espace de l'Art Concret möchte Raum- und Kunsterfahrung mit einem deutlichen Bildungsauftrag in Einklang bringen. Dabei geht es im wesentlichen auch um einen übergeordneten Sammlungsbegriff, der Kunst und Leben als Einheit versteht: Ein Stuhl kann daher in der Sammlung genauso auftauchen, wie ein Masterpiece der Kunstgeschichte. Die Geschichte des Espace de l'Art Concret (EAC) ist aber auch die Geschichte einer konkreten Utopie: 1988 kaufte die Gemeinde von Mouans-Sartoux das Schloss Mouans in der Absicht, für die Stadt und die Region ein Kulturzentrum aufzubauen. Die Begegnung des Stadtpräsidenten André Aschieri mit dem Sammler- und Künstlerpaar Sybil Albers und Gottfried Honegger entwickelte sich zu einer fruchtbaren Symbiose: 2004 schenkten Sybil Albers und Gottfried Honegger ihre Kunst-Sammlung, bestehend aus 500 Werken von über 160 herausragenden Künstlern, dem französischen Staat. Dafür verpflichtete sich dieser, ein im Geist der konkreten Kunst geplantes Museum für die Donation Albers-Honegger zu bauen. Als Gewinner eines Projektwettbewerbes realisierten die Zürcher Architekten Gigon/Guyer ein Gebäude, das zur stillen und konzentrierten Einsicht in die Kunst der Gegenwart einlädt; das Gebäude fällt auf und fügt sich gleichzeitig homogen in seine Umgebung ein. In den im Schlosspark von Mouans-Sartoux errichteten Ateliers ist zudem eine Schule des Sehens und Hörens entstanden. Unter pädagogischer Leitung erfahren jährlich über 7000 Kinder die wunderbare Wirkung der Auseinandersetzung mit Kunst: In Anlehnung an dieses Projekt entsteht während der Ausstellung im Haus Konstruktiv ein temporäres Malatelier, in dem Kinder unter professioneller maltherapeutischen Leitung ihre Kreativität entdecken und ausleben können. Der Espace de l'Art Concret ist zu einem Magnet geworden. Die Leute der Region besuchen die Ausstellungen ohne Hemmschwellen, denn im EAC wird eine Sprache gesprochen, die sie verstehen und die sie in ihr bewusstes Sein aufnehmen. In doing so, it is essentially about a superior collection concept that conceives art and life as one: a chair for instance may just as much be a part of this collection as a masterpiece from the history of art. The history of Espace de l'Art Concret (EAC) is, however, also the history of a concrete utopia: in 1988, the community of Mouans-Sartoux purchased the Mouans castle with the intention of creating a cultural centre for the city and the region. The meeting between the mayor, André Aschieri and the collector/artist couple Sybil Albers and Gottfried Honegger developed into a fruitful symbiosis: in 2004, Sybil Albers and Gottfried Honegger made a gift of their art collection to the French Government, which consisted of 500 works by over 160 prominent artists. In return, the state committed to build a museum - in the spirit of concrete art - to house the Albers-Honnegger donation. As winners of a competition for the project, Zurich-based architects Gigon/Guyer were able to realise a building promoting a tranquil and focused insight into contemporary art; it is a striking building, which at the same time blends in homogenously with its surroundings. Moreover, in the atelier in the castle grounds of Mouans-Sartoux an audio and visual school has since emerged. Every year, more than 7000 children experience the wonderful effect of examining art under pedagogic supervision. In accordance with this project, a temporary painting atelier has been set up for the duration of the exhibition in the Haus Konstruktiv, so that children may discover and act out their creativity under the supervision of professional painting therapists. Espace de l'Art Concret has become a magnet. The people of the region visit the exhibitions without any inhibitions, as the language used at the EAC is one that they can understand and which they can consciously comprehend.
