 Celebrities, 2007 Hand Painting On Vegetable Parchment, 100 x 80 cm Zhu Fadong In Search for Zhu Fadong F2 Gallery is delighted to be presenting a solo show entitled "In Search for Zhu Fadong" by celebrated artist Zhu Fadong. Zhu Fadong was born in Kunming, Yunnan Province, in 1960. He graduated from the Fine Arts Department of Yunnan Art Institute in 1985. As an independent artist for more than a decade, his works have attracted a lot of attention in the art world. These works have included "Announcement of a Missing Person", This Person is For Sale", "Lifestyle", and "Will Comrade Zhu Fadong Please Leave the Room First". As a result of this profile, he has been included in China's Art History and is mentioned in several art textbooks. As materialism continues to gain force, more and more artworks concern themselves with the existential condition of being human and other related ruminations. Art begins to shoulder the critical responsibility for existential introspection. Using his own body as an art medium, Zhu directly participates in public life with his art and offers a statement and reflection on the human condition. Posing as a missing person without social identity and exposed to public gaze, he attempts to highlight the transformation of our society and question the social values we hold dear. He asks: "How do we establish a new self and 'persona' in a new society?" Being adept at breaking free from traditional art media, he continues to reinvent himself and keeps himself open to possibilities. In this show, Zhu Fadong will present his latest mixed media works and works on paper. Will the old theme of being lost still feature in the coming show? We will have to wait and see.
